Woman charged with having sex with
teen
October 16, 2008
A Grayslake woman has been charged
with having sex with a 17-year-old boy that had been in her care at
a Mundelein residential treatment facility.
Noelle Howlett, 41, of Grayslake,
was charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a
Class 2 felony, said Cmdr. Matt McCutcheon of the Grayslake Police
Department.
Libertyville police have also
charged her with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, he
said.
The juvenile, who was a frequent
runaway from Chicago, met Howlett while staying at ABCT, a
residential treatment center at Fairfield Road and Route 176 in
Mundelein. Howlett is employed there.
The juvenile had returned home to
live when the alleged incidents occurred, McCutcheon said.
"According to statements, the
juvenile had taken a train from Chicago to Grayslake to meet Howlett,"
McCutcheon said. "They drove to Libertyville and had sex in her car.
That's why there are Libertyville charges attached to this case.
Then they went back to her Grayslake apartment and had sex again."
The Grayslake Police Department was
notified of the incidents on Oct. 11 by Rush University Medical
Center in Chicago because the victim's parents had taken him there
to be examined, McCutcheon said.
"One of our detectives went there,"
he said. "We took statements from the victim. He said the sex was
consensual. But Howlett's husband found out what had happened and
was angry and called the victim. He said he and his wife were both
HIV positive and have hepatitis, and just thought the boy should
know."
McCutcheon said Howlett and the
victim have both tested negative.
He added that when the charges
occurred, the youth was no longer living at the treatment center.
"There is no evidence of any
incidents taking place at the center," McCutcheon said.
Howlett was charged on Oct. 14.
Bond was set at $50,000, 10 percent applies.
