Foster Baby Who Died Had Head Injuries

There is new information surrounding the death of a seven-month-old baby boy in foster care. The I-Team has learned the baby had severe head injuries.

The child spent two days in critical condition at a local hospital before succumbing to his injuries Friday.

Sources with the Metro Police department tell us investigators met with a pediatrician and with representatives from the district attorneys office today to discuss the case.

But no decisions could be made about whether to file criminal charges because the coroner has not determined how the child died.

Baby Boy Charles as he's being called died Friday at Sunrise Hospital.

Police tell us paramedics responded to his foster home Wednesday and found him unresponsive.

Police describe his foster mother as a "person of interest" but not a suspect in their investigation.

Representatives with the coroner's office tell us it could be up to 12 weeks before they can determine cause and manner of death. They are waiting for the results of toxicology and other lab tests.
