Martin Anderson family to file wrongful death suit

The lawyers for the family of Martin Lee Anderson announced today that a wrongful death lawsuit will be filed against the Bay County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
The family is looking for an award "in excess of $40 million," attorney Daryl Parks said.

Martin was 14-years-old when he died a day after guards at a Panama City boot camp kneed and kicked him and shoved ammonia tablets up his nose in January.

The lawsuit will be filed in Leon County, attorney Benjamin Crump said. Crump said that the family tried to settle out of court with the Sheriff's Office for their insurance policy of $3.1 million, which Crump described as "grossly inadequate."
