Understanding individuals with Asperger's Syndrome or high functioning autism

Learn ideas, strategies, models and interventions to maximize the potential of individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome or high functioning autism. Attend the “Understanding Individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome or High Functioning Autism” seminar Oct. 13 at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. The Lorman Education Service event will feature presenters Patricia Kunz, MSW, LCSW, a school social worker and J. Geoffrey Magnus, Ph.D., LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker and an assistant professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford, a seminar co-sponsor.

Seminar highlights include video of real patients demonstrating identifying features and groups demonstrating treatment methods. There will be interviews with patients and parents exploring the emotional impact of autism and Asperger’s Syndrome, and an integrated developmental neurobiological approach to autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. The day-long seminar begins at 9 a.m. and is geared toward teachers, psychologists, counselors, social workers, nurses, parents and attorneys.
