LAS VEGAS -- A woman claimed she was roughed up by school police at a Clark County School Board meeting.

Rose Moore, 60, got up to speak and was told to sit down. Shortly after, she said an argument broke out and school police approached her.

Moore claimed she was manhandled by school police and a tape recording of the incident, plus images of the bruising, are her evidence, she said.

Moore said that when the board attempted to end the meeting, she reminded them she had signed up to speak. That is when she started arguing with school board member Ruth Johnson. Shortly after, Moore said police became combative.

"They grabbed me and started twisting my arm and my thumbs and my hands," she said. "They grabbed me under the arm and then I yelled to them, trying to tell them I have cancer and a heart condition."

Moore said they tightened their grip on her arms so severely, it bruised her.

School board officials finally stepped in, she said, allowing her to speak. But she said the commotion was too much and she experienced chest pains.

"I knew it was over," she said. "The heart was going. There was nothing I could do, but I did what I came to do for the kids."

School district officials said that the board members were out of town and unable to comment, but confirm they are conducting an internal investigation.

Moore said she is working with the American Civil Liberties Union and plans to file a lawsuit against the school district.
