Whisper Ridge Facility Remains Open

The Whisper Ridge Behavioral Health Facility will remain open. Earlier this year, the state cited them with multiple violations and threatened to revoke their license.

They've entered into a consent agreement with the Department of Mental Health, but there are some stipulations. The agreement is good for one year and requires them to pay $30,000 in fines. That's for the multiple health and safety violations the State found back in February.

Since then, they've lowered their number of patients from 50 to seven and renovated the facility.

Under this new agreement, they also have to provide more employee training, cut back on using restraints and add more recreational activities for patients.

There were also some reports of sexual misconduct between a staff member and a patient. Police say that is still under investigation.

Whisper Ridge is a 58 bed mental health facility for kids between 13 and 17 years old.
